I agree with death penalty because I consider that penalties are preventions from other crimes. However, death penalty would be applied only in the most serious cases for example; sacrilege, murder of relatives, crimes against the State. And once I said this quote:
"...if someone is proved guilty of a murder, having killed any of these peoples, the judges' slaves will kill him and throw him naked in a cross-road, out of the city; all the judges will bring a stone in the name of the whole State throwing it on the head of the corpse, then will bring him out of the State's frontier and will leave him there unburied; this is the law".
In other words I mean that if a person is guilty this person should receive a punishment. In this case would be throwing that person naked in a cross-road, out of the city.
In other words I justify the death penalty like a political median to eliminate in the society the permissive situation. So with death penalty you would make people understand that anarchy is not the best way to live life. If a person is bad and their soul as well this person will deserve a death penalty because anything that is done wrong should be punished no matter what.
I consider that a thief can’t change their impulse of stealing because he is sick and a trash in life. Therefore, any person that relate with him will be as him. So this person doesn’t deserve to live because it’s polluting our country. Death is the only solution for the society to be clean.
Finally, I can state that the state has the right to kill another person if and only if he commits sacrilege, murder of relatives, crimes against the State.

As a true believer of virtue ethics I believe your doing wrong by saying this things. First of all only God has the right to decide who should die and who should live. Although one has done wrong by killing a person, everybody deserves a second chance to mend their errors. I believe the saying "eye for an eye" is immoral do decide punishments on people. Many people may that have done wrong may truely feel repent for what they have done.
ReplyDeleteas existentialism i would like to say that by killing criminals you are not making a difference. these criminals are true to themselves and face death on a normal basis. they are not afraid to die and if they are not afraid to die death penalty is useless and does not complete its objective. if we kill the corrupt government officials and and the white collar businessmen who for example launder the criminals money or are involved indirectly to their acts we would be having having results. these people are being unauthentic and death penalty would cause crime to stop.

ReplyDeleteI totally disagree with you because the state has its limits and it doesn´t have the right to kill other human beings. Imagine if you were the one that was going to be killed, you would not want that to happen right? So, why would you do it on others.
