sorry baby, Existence precedes Essence

Sorry baby, Existence precedes Essence

Existence precedes essence means that our actual life makes up our essence rather than some instead of having predetermination make us human. By this we use our conscious to make our own values and find meaning in our lives. Abortion is terminating a pregnancy by removing the fetus. Abortions are usually frowned upon by society since they see it as the murder of a human being. Many people believe abortions are immoral, unethical but this is because they guide themselves by another type of philosophical code. As existentialism I teach you that a human being is forged through actions, values, blood, sweat, and tears. Abortion is ethical since it is not murder. A fetus cannot be considered a human being as it has no experiences and therefore has no essence. A fetus is incomplete, work in progress that could endanger the life of its mother. If this was the case and the mother would worry about her life it is completely ethical for her to try and save her life by having an abortion. We are defined by how we act. If a man acts with cruelty towards others and is selfish he is considered a cruel selfish human being, if a man is generous and selfless he is considered a selfless and generous human being. A fetus does not show any of these traits it can either be wanted or unwanted. Whether it is wanted or unwanted it is not unethical it is an option, a choice that can be made.
